Itinerary for the day:
- Yoga – A gentle Hatha yoga practice suitable for all levels including beginners, to promote peace and calm and inward reflection as well as creating a focused mind.
- Breathwork – We will explore different breathing techniques to create calm and clarity.
- Drumming – We will create a drumming meditation to set our intentions together using techniques that are thousands of years old to calm body and mind.
- Lunch – A tasty nutritious lunch is included (with vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options available)
- Yoga nidra meditation – I will lead you in rest, in a guided yoga nidra meditation
- Sound bath – an immersion into the healing world of sound as I play various instruments around and over the body so you can feel the effects of these beautiful healing sound vibrations.
Yoga – In our session we will practice gentle hatha yoga also incorporating some restorative poses, including breathing, and a series of postures that promote general well-being as well as relaxation.
Sound bath – Sound healing is an ancient art used for thousands of years for calming and tuning the mind while re-balancing the body by releasing tension and subtle energetic blockages. A sound bath is a deeply relaxing and simple yet profound way to connect with the centre of our being. You will be bathed in the healing sounds many instruments including Tibetan Singing Bowl, crystal bowls, Gong, Hand pan, Shamanic Drum, Sansula, Koshi Bells, and Rainstick. I will immerse you in a soothing soundscape, playing around and over the body so that the vibrations can be fully absorbed and appreciated whilst you lie down comfortably on a mat.
Yoga Nidra meditation – Yoga nidra (also known as yogic sleep) is a wonderful technique for relaxing the body and the mind. Yoga nidra can be as restful and restorative as sleep, where we we learn to be between the states of wakefulness and sleep whilst remaining fully conscious. Yoga Nidra takes us into a state of harmony and restfulness. From here, we can experience healing, restore ourselves and awaken to our deep self. Giving your mind and body an extra window of deep relaxation enables us to enjoy a greater sense of well-being!
Drumming – Drumming is an ancient form of group meditation that has been practiced around the globe for thousands of years. It is very therapeutic, helping us connect with our inner selves and being a fun way to relax and rejuvenate our minds, body, and soul. It creates and maintains physical, mental, and spiritual health. Recent research indicates that drumming accelerates physical healing, boosts the immune system and produces feelings of well-being. Drumming also induces deep relaxation, lowers blood pressure, and reduces stress. We will drum together, calming body and mind.
Breathwork – Of course we breathe every moment of everyday without even giving it a second thought most of the time, but by harnessing the breath with specific breathing practices we can affect positive changes in our lives. These techniques can slow things down, help pain management, improve sleep and provide tools for dealing with anxiety. Breathwork provides a wealth of strategies for dealing with the uncertainties of our day to day lives.
You will require:
A yoga mat to lie on (I will provide this if you don’t have one), a blanket (or duvet or sleeping bag if you wish, again I will have blankets if you need one!), a pillow or cushion, and comfortable clothes.
